Marine biologist was scalped in her research lab, but sees the positive side of her accident

Pia Winberg, a marine biologist developing extracts used for wound healing, cosmetics, skin cell printing and gut health, has had a unique insight into the applications of her work after suffering a devastating lab injury earlier this month.

On February 7, while Dr Winberg was working at her facility near Nowra on the New South Wales South Coast, her hair was caught in a pump shaft and a large part of her scalp was torn off.
