UAF team welcomes Native Oz Bushfoods team to the Elkhorn labs!
It was an exciting day of yarning, lab demonstrations, sharing knowledge and shared visions for both Native Oz Bushfoods and the Uniquely Australian Foods (UAF) teams on Wednesday 16th March.
Tracey and Doug Goebel (Bundjalung man) – founders, owners and operators of Native Oz Bush Foods – were joined by their son Brayden (a Cultural Heritage officer) and their new colleague and Gamilaroi Man Matt Jackson, a qualified Horticulturist in an all day visit to UAF’s new laboratory facilities.
Professor Yasmina Sultanbawa and some of her team – including: Dr Anh Phan, Dr Maral Seidi Damyeh, Dr Saleha Akter, Sukirtha Srivarathan, Adiamo Oladapo, Claire Wijngaarden and Sophie Ader – gave presentations on Australian Edible Halophytes and their nutritional properties and a tour of the new lab facilities. Together, the teams shared excitement over potential future collaborative projects and had some laughs along the way together.
Native Oz Bushfoods is one of the latest First Nations enterprise to join the UAF centre, and discussions around a collaborative project focused on developing the native edible halophyte value chain have recently commenced.
We look forward to a long, respectful, meaningful and productive relationship with Native Oz Bushfoods. Welcome!
