Inviting Indigenous partners into the labs for two way learning and shared enjoyment

Shoshana William, a family member of one of our Indigenous Enterprise Group research partners Nyanda Cultural Tours, came to learn from and assist Dr Sandra Olarte Mantilla in the food and sensory kitchen earlier this month (May 2022).Together, Shosh and Sandra shared stories of food and culture, whilst performing a range of product development activities for Nyanda in the sensory kitchen at the new Elkhorn Laboratories.

Uniquely Australian Foods loved having Shosh as our Indigenous ‘student’ in the lab.

UAF has made plans to host more trainees from other Indigenous research partner communities in the near future, facilitating easier access for two-way sharing and learning to occur, and helping to build the future leaders in the Native botanicals industry.
