It was in spectacular bushland surroundings that Indigenous Plants for Health held its 3rd field day for 2022 (19-21st Nov).

Around 30 people from across QLD and NSW gathered on the private property of Foxbar Falls, around 3.5 hours drive out of Brisbane in beautiful camping grounds.

The event was opened with a welcome to country by Kambuwal Elder Selena Griffin, and there were presentations by Dr Andrew Pengelly (former IPHA President) ; Associate Prof Rod Fensham, (School of Biological Sciences, UQ and senior botanist at Queensland Herbarium);  Liz Bourne (from the Wildflower Consortium); Kerrie Oakes (new IPHA President and SE QLD Coordinator of Herbalists Without Borders), Sophie Ader from ARC Uniquely Australian Foods and more.

Carbon8 were also present with a booth and gave a talk about regenerative farming, increasing biodiversity and increasing carbon soil levels.

Over the two days, attendees learnt about medicinal and culinary uses of the plants surrounding them, through talks, stories, plantings, demonstrations and a plant discovery walk up to the top of ‘sow and pig’ mountain. The native flowers and medicinal plants around the area were spectacular, and everyone learnt a lot.
