Uniquely Australian Foods ARC Training Centre monthly seminar
8 September 2021 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Background
The ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Uniquely Australian Foods (ARC ITTC UAF) is guided by a set of policies to undertake research on native plant materials collected from, or by, Indigenous partners. The overall goal of these policies is to guide and help the Training Centre researchers and Indigenous partners to address a range of ethical and legal issues that are associated with the collection and use of native plant materials and Indigenous knowledge.
In order to enable HDR students and other researchers, investigators, and partners of the project to better understand these policies and to help them develop and execute a research agreement with Indigenous partners, Dr Kamalesh Adhikari will conduct four different workshops. Each of these workshops will focus on the following different, yet interrelated, themes.
Themes
Workshop 1: Procedures for working with Indigenous partners and communities and Policy on research with native plant materials obtained from Indigenous partners and communities
Workshop 2: Australian biodiscovery laws and guidelines
Workshop 3: Policy on Indigenous knowledge; Policy on research publications; Policy on data collection
Workshop 4: Model contractual clauses/template research agreement for the collection and use of native plant materials from Indigenous land
