SESNA2021 | The Beating Heart of Social Enterprise

12 November 2021 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

$20

Event description

Social Enterprise is not new in Northern Australia. It has always been here, led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. As a result, it is more than just a business model. It’s a way of life, it’s our community, it’s in our hearts.

Our world can be busy, chaotic and unsettling, no more so than in the past few years. It can be hard to remain generous, focused, and present.

So we, along with our partners Impact North, QSEC and SENT, invite you to take a moment with us to reflect. What do we need to be thriving and well? What can we learn from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders who have been practicing this approach to business and community for millennia? What new perspectives arrive when we take the opportunity to connect deeply with ourselves and others?

Slow down, listen and learn from the heart of Northern Australia.

SESNA is going beyond a one-day event this year. We’re looking to leverage this moment to advocate for the needs of our community and our region. This means we’re actively engaging with our community to understand what they want to talk about and identify speakers and thought leaders relevant to this moment in time. It also means that we are building in post-event advocacy, drawing from the Summit to contribute to the National Strategy for Social Enterprise, the Social Enterprise World Forum scheduled for Brisbane in 2022, and aspiring to create our own roundtable for the region to further these conversations.
